VICTORIA Lynch’s career is a cut above – just ask anyone. The boss of Stockton, Teesside, firm Additional Lengths, her business is ahead of the rest – quite literally.
Womens Leather Jackets
The 33-year-old mum and her team are leading suppliers of hair extensions – dispatching goods to industry professionals and clients worldwide.
But that’s not the only hat she wears, so to speak.
Wedding Dresses
Add to that a walk-in store on Teesside and a specialist salon serving clients, as well as running training courses for industry professionals, and the result is a very busy working life.

Victoria’s business hinges on helping people change how they look – but does that mean she’s a chameleon when it comes to her own personal style?
Definitely not.

She has a dress code for work and, outside of that, with a new baby to look after into the mix, she describes her style as casual and light.
“I’m a ‘buy if I need them’ type,” she smiles.

“Overall, I’d say my style just varies – I like any style, there isn’t one specific I follow.”
Evening DressesBy Day:
ON her feet in the salon or behind a desk running the business means Victoria has to be versatile when it comes to work wear.

Power suits are out – although she does admit to having one business suit in her wardrobe that comes out when it is needed. “I do have a dress code for work,” she smiles. “Grey or black trousers or grey or black leggings teamed with a grey, black or white top. To be honest, it goes with the theme of the shop, and all of the girls wear it.”
Prom DressesHome:
AT home, she admits, she likes to wear something casual.
What she chooses depends on where she’s going but, by and large, colours are dictated by the season.
Bridesmaid Dresses
“When it comes to weekend wear, I like to dress down and be quite casual,” says Victoria.
“I tend to wear jeans or – if I’m not going anywhere – loose jogging bottoms!
Mother of the Bride Dresses
“My favourite shop is probably River Island – you can get a range of things in there, whatever you are shopping for.
Cocktail Dresses
“Colours-wise, it depends on the season. This time of year I’m always in greys and blacks, especially at work.
“During the summer, though, I like bright colours.
“As the weather changes I tend to stick to more autumnal colours.”
Night Out:
Flower Girl Dresses
A BIG night out always demands a dress for Victoria.
Closer to home, though, and she opts for smart jeans and a top.
“If it is something high-end it will always be a dress but, if it is something like a local night out, I like to wear a smart pair of jeans and a nice top – and accessories and a nice pair of shoes,” she laughs.

Awards Night:
AWARDS night glamour is something Victoria is well used to.
Since launching her firm Additional Lengths in 2003, Victoria has a stack of business-related accolades under her belt, from Teesside University’s Most Successful New Entrepreneur Scholarship in 2006 to scooping the Young Entrepreneur category at the Best New Business Awards in 2004.
Earlier this month, she was also shortlisted for best retail business at the 11th Annual Women Into the Network Awards, held in Gateshead last Friday.
A glamorous dress is always top of her what-to-wear list but, despite past successes, Victoria doesn’t have a row of them cluttering up her wardrobe.
Two weeks before the recent WIN awards, she hadn’t yet found a dress – admitting she did have a really nice one which she recently gave away to a charity shop.
“Not too long” was her only stipulation when it came to choosing the right awards frock.
Hair, being her forte, is a different matter, though. She’s going longer.
“I’ve recently had a baby and I shed a lot of hair, so my hair is short. But, for the awards night, I’ll have extensions in!”
