Known for its stringent dress code policy, the school now allows its students to wear a new literacy T-shirt initially designed for Salem-Keizer Education Foundation.
"We've had a dress code in effect for about 10 years, but this shirt sends the message across that we can do things together, work together to improve," said Tricia Nelson, the school's principal.
"It also sets a message that reading and literacy is very important to us. It's the No. 1 thing that we can do for our students."
Mens Leather Jackets
The shirt was awarded to a seventh-grade class that read the most books as part of a Project Change Reaction T-shirt contest put on by Break the Chain Apparel.
The winning class logged more than 1,000 hours of reading.
Womens Leather Jackets
Each received a literacy T-shirt as a gift from their project's sponsor, the Salem Leadership Foundation, during a school assembly last month.
The focus of the contest was to allow students to design artwork around a social issue of their choice.
In this case, students chose to build awareness around the issue of illiteracy. They designed the shirt in their art class.
The T-shirt features the phrase, "Illiteracy is a life sentence" and contains an image of a youngster with a ball and chain on his ankle, trying to reach for a stack of books.
Last month, seventh-grade and eighth-grade students unveiled the design during a school assembly.

"I thought the school was going to take off like a rocket from all the (excitement)," said Krina Lemons, the executive director of Salem-Keizer Education Foundation. "The cheers that went up and the applause were unbelievable."
To ensure the students were reading books, teachers, school administrators and parents marked and tracked the amount of time the students read.

-- Family No. 49 is a 62-year-old woman suffering from multiple health issues. Obesity has resulted from her health issues and being bed-bound. Her brother and daughter reside with her, enabling her to remain at home, however they have health issues of their own. The woman needs an extra-thick, twin-size mattress for her hospital bed, loose clothing and night gowns.

Imagine someone singing: a frill is the annoying, warbly, show-offy thing that wannabe Mariah Careys do, whereas a ruffle is that husky edge, a slight break in the voice that makes the sound more interesting.

The Verdict
Ultimately, the code should not be feared. It is a guideline and guidelines are a realistic part of the professional world. The code is not designed to stifle self expression. So throw on that scarf and rock the bow-tie. Own your style with purpose, but remember, as Alexandra Harrison advises: "dressing nicely sends the message that we're a serious college in a serious place."

Others violate the "no jeans" rule - slipping into class with black or dark blue denim pants. Peer-accountability steps in: students are responsible for and encouraged to hold each other accountable to the dress code.

The dress code, as stated in the 2010-2011 Student Handbook, suggests students' attire should "[reflect] our College mission statement, whom we expect to encounter, and what type of first impression we seek to create."

"A 2 or 3-piece suit accessorized with a bow tie and matching handkerchief," says Charles Carman ‘14 referring to how he meets his goal of mixing "funky-cool with sophistication."
"For specific outfits, you could check out my blog, ‘Adventures in Business Casual,' but general principles are mixing and matching. Having a few standard pieces to which you can add different signature pieces is huge," advises Alexandra Harrison ‘12.
The Verdict
Ultimately, the code should not be feared. It is a guideline and guidelines are a realistic part of the professional world. The code is not designed to stifle self expression. So throw on that scarf and rock the bow-tie. Own your style with purpose, but remember, as Alexandra Harrison advises: "dressing nicely sends the message that we're a serious college in a serious place."

If the dress has not been altered, you may need to do a bit of research about the sizing of that particular designer's line. You can do this at a local bridal shop or online. No matter what, the number one rule of wedding dress shopping is that you should always buy bigger. Bridal garments are designed to be sized down by a tailor, but can't be sized up.

2. Once I buy my dress, how do I get it tailored to fit me?

I always recommend that buyers use escrow.com for payment. Escrow.com charges a fee, but will hold your payment while the dress is being shipped and release funds to the seller only after you've received the dress and are happy with it. If you'd like to avoid higher fees, you can also use Paypal, which provides a dispute system that may be able to refund your money if you don't receive the dress in satisfactory condition.

4. What's the safest way to send payment for a gently used wedding dress?
I always recommend that buyers use escrow.com for payment. Escrow.com charges a fee, but will hold your payment while the dress is being shipped and release funds to the seller only after you've received the dress and are happy with it. If you'd like to avoid higher fees, you can also use Paypal, which provides a dispute system that may be able to refund your money if you don't receive the dress in satisfactory condition.

Most gently used wedding dresses are worth about half of their retail value, while dresses by highly sought-after designers and/or from recent seasons are usually sold for 25% to 40% off. Older styles and dresses with damage or stains are sold for up to 90% off retail.

Ok, so I know it’s not really Fall/Autumn anymore and it’s pretty much Winter already, but this is the last post in my Fall Finds series and it features dresses and jumpsuits which I love. Both are still perfect for the Winter months, paired with tights and warm layers. I’ve put together a mixture of day dresses, evening dresses, day time playsuits and jumpsuits and more classic ones.

I love buying clothes online and checking out the latest fashion trends from the clothing websites. It’s nice being able to feature them on my fashion blog and then see what the other style bloggers are wearing from the new trends.

Which are your favourites? I love the leopard print playsuit, the chain mail dress, the sequin playsuit and the long legged brown jumpsuit. I don’t get to wear dresses as much as I would like to in the Winter purely because of how cold it gets here but I have seen Topshop do some 120 denier tights which I think I will need to buy! That will keep me warm!

Dongho of U-Kiss joins cast of ‘My Black Mini Dress’ movie

It was revealed on December 6th that Dongho from U-Kiss had been cast for the upcoming chick flick Korean movie, ‘My Black Mini Dress.’
Earlier today, an announcement revealed that Yoon Eun Hye, Park Han Byul, Cha Ye Ryun, and Yoo In Na have also been cast for the movie.

Dongho’s agency, NH Media, revealed, “Dongho has been cast as a middle school student who has a crush on Yoo In Na’s movie character. This will be Dongho’s second movie after a supporting role in ‘Villain on the Second Floor‘ earlier this year. We are glad that his acting potential has been recognized.”

Fans have much to look forward to as Dongho is also cast in a 40-episode sitcom, ‘Real School‘, alongside group members Eli and Kiseop, and it will air on January 3, 2011 through MBC Every1.Herve Leger
